I love brunch. Like, LOVE. It’s such a cliche Portlander thing to say, but I do. So when Heathrow and Kate emailed me about photographing their brunch themed wedding, I almost died of happiness. Then they told me that it would be at Gorge Crest Vineyards and I knew right then that this was going to be an incredible day.
They got married at noon with a stunning view of Mt. Hood. Kate wore a Nicole Miller dress with a heart-shaped patch from her late fathers shirt. After they tearfully spoke their vows, they surprised the audience by sharing that they had chosen a new last name – her Dad’s name. It was such a beautiful moment and incredible way to honor someone who was there in spirit.
From there, we all gorged ourselves on mimosas, bloody marys, bacon, muffins, bagels, omelettes, sausage, cheese blintzes and potatoes. You’d think that this would have made people sleepy, but no. After brunch I witnessed one of the most awesome, epic, ridiculous dance parties ever – and it was in broad daylight! DJ DMoe Funk totally killed it and everyone laughed the afternoon away, surrounded by bubbles and friends while breaking it down to some crazy good music. After everyone left, Kate, Heathrow and I wandered through the wildflowers and vineyards alone to take a few more photos and eat some watermelon. It was perfect.
